Tis the Season to be Thankful
As a Boston native, I had the privilege of growing up in Grove Hall, a vibrant and diverse community located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. My life in Grove Hall was an exciting journey through a neighborhood in transition. Grove Hall, rich in culture and history, became my mecca for learning and personal growth. I enjoyed all the amenities and richness of living in a crossroads of Black excellence while navigating the typical challenges of urban life.
Being the youngest of nine siblings, I inherited a spirit of teamwork and compromise from the examples set by my brothers and sisters. Early on, I understood that the path to success is paved by working collectively. Graduating from West Roxbury High School and completing my Baccalaureate studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston solidified my passion and initiative to educate with intentionality. After proudly earning my degrees in English and Psychology, my career path led me into the world of marketing and experiential engagement with people in festive settings. I honed and mastered the skill of connecting marketing with amusement.
My reconnection to the classroom and teaching came with the opportunity to be a member of the Green New Deal movement. The goal here is to integrate well-trained people of color into the green space. As an educator, my objective is to encourage career exploration in Urban Forestry, Conservancy, and their existence within the Green Industry. I am committed to making an impact on how our communities are introduced to the opportunities and career options offered in the Green Industry.
Some of my passions and commitments include adult literacy, reading with intentionality, community service and engagement, and outdoor festivals and events. The commonalities of my passions are expressed in the simple goal of ensuring that I am a vessel to better articulate the perspective of my community. I embrace the task of making opportunities accessible to all.
